Twenty-Five Mile Fire at Lake Chelan (updated 10:40 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021)
Description: This is an emerging fire that started Sunday, Aug. 15. The fire has crossed the Twenty-Fire Mile Creek drainage. Engines, crews and air resources are already on scene and additional resources are en route.

Estimated Size & Containment: 300 acres and growing

Evacuation Levels:

Level 1: South Lakeshore Road, from Morning Sun Drive to Kelly's Resort (12800 South Lakeshore Road)

Level 2: South Lakeshore Road, from near Fields Point Landing to Morning Sun Road

Level 3: Shady Pass Road down to South Lakeshore Road as well as north of 17205 South Lakeshore Road. If you live in the area, please get out now.

Road Closures: Shady Pass Road, South Lakeshore Road from 17205 South Lakeshore Road and north, and all roads off of those closures.

Emergency Shelter: Located at Morgen Owings Elementary School, 407 E. Woodin Ave., in Chelan. Shelter is expected to open by 11:30 p.m.

Be aware of the fire danger in your area. Monitor emergency services social media accounts, including Chelan County Emergency Management.and the U.S. Forest Serve: Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest.

Update: 9:00pm
More evacuations have been put into place. Level 3 Evacuations (Leave Now) are remaining the same at this time. Level 2 Evacuations (Prepare to Leave) have been issued from Field's Point Landing to Morning Sun Drive. Level 1 Evacuations (Notice of Fire Activity in the Area) are in place from Morning Sun Drive to Kelly's Resort. Please stay out of the evacuation zones if you do not live there. This road is narrow and additional traffic can cause congestion and slow any attempt by those residents to evacuate. Emergency vehicle traffic will also be in the area which will add to the ability to move about safely in these evacuation zones. It is recommended to not go any further than First Creek State Park on South Lakeshore Road to avoid interference in fire operations and local traffic. Thanks for your cooperation. Fire has been reported to be approximately 1,500 acres.

Update: 8:45pm
All aircraft have been released from the fire for the night. This is due to safety and visibility issues. Once again, the fire is burning on both sides of the 25 Mile Creek drainage and as of last report moving down canyon. Fire is expected to crest the top of Slide Ridge overnight. Crews will be working overnight to protect structures and keep the fire south of South Lakeshore Road. Winds are expected overnight and overnight temperatures to stay somewhat warm only reaching a low of mid to upper 60's. It is going to be an active fire night, please keep these firefighters and first responders in your thoughts.

Road closures have been put in place at Field's Point Landing. Level 3 Evacuations include all of 25 Mile Creek to Field's Point Landing. All aircraft are making final runs and will be departing the fire shortly.

Level 3 Evacuations have been extended from 25 Mile Creek down lake to Field's Point area. Level 3 mean leave now. Public access is not allowed in the evacuation areas.

Fire has reported to have jumped 25 Mile Creek and is burning up the back side of Slide Ridge. The fire currently is burning on bother sides of the 25 Mile Creek drainage and is still moving down canyon toward the lake. Level 3 Evacuations were ordered for all of 25 Mile Creek. Fire has gone 3rd alarm and resources will be enroute from Chelan and Douglas counties. PLEASE YIELD TO RESPONDING EMERGENCY VEHICLE AND STAY OFF OF SOUTH LAKESHORE ROAD! Several homes are threatened, but no losses or damage has been reported. Fire is believed to be as much as 1,000 acres.

Fire is progressing fast, downslope, down canyon. Structure protection response has been ordered from Chelan Fire & Rescue(Chelan FD 7), Entiat Fire(Chelan FD 😎 and Manson Fire(Chelan FD 5). Additional resources include fixed wing aircraft, reported as being "Super Scooper" aircraft. Chelan County Sheriff's Department has been requested to provide a boat for air water operations as well as deputies for evacuation notices in the area. An order for additional hand crews and engines has been requested.

Reports are that fire is about 350 acres and pushing down canyon, down slope, with spot fires reported near 25 Mile Creek Rd/Shady Pass Rd. Fire progression is from SW to NE. 25 Mile Creek Forest Service Helicase is threatened as well as nearby structures. This fire is officially named the "25 Mile Fire.

Fire is reported to be located on Grouse Mountain.

Fire in 25 Mile Creek is reported at about 150 acres and growing with crews on scene. Aircraft is on scene and also on the way, with 2 helicopters on location and Air Attack is enroute. Several fire crews are enroute from county, state and federal agencies.
This has been identified as a WUI (Wildlands Urban Interface) fire and structure protection has been requested. A Type 3 Incident Management Team has been requested.
