The Cove

"Thursday, November 6th was our busiest day since 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic. We served around 95 client households, close to 200 individuals.
The Seattle Times, in a report yesterday, estimated Okanogan County as having the second highest percentage of residents that rely on SNAP for meal support in Washington, essentially tied with neighboring Ferry County and close behind the 22% estimate for Yakima County.
The need for affordable food continues to grow in our region.
We have been taking a number of questions from our local, very kind-hearted community on how to best support The COVE mission of providing supplemental meal support for those suffering from food insecurity, so, her you go:
1- Donate. Food or financial, we put it all into getting food into the hands of those in need from Methow to Mazama. Thank you for your kind support through GIVE METHOW, and to those of you who give directly. You can drop off gifts at The COVE, or donate through our website: http://www.thecovecares.com/donate.html
2- Volunteer- We have opportunities to volunteer, stop by on Thursday mornings and we will put you to work.
3- Coordinate a neighborhood food drive, collect and bring it to The COVE. You don't even need to ask us, but we can give you a collection box and a sign.
We can accept donations on Tuesday mornings from 9am-noon and on Thursdays from 9am-4pm. We have boxes at the Twisp River Tap House, Winthrop Library and Winthrop Physical Therapy. You can drop food there. Commercially canned or dry, packaged goods only, please, at the drop points
We can accept fresh produce at The COVE during the hours listed above.
With very few exceptions, your $ donations help us purchase food and personal hygiene items from local vendors, turning your dollars around within the walls of our community.
Thanks!!! Hope you can drop by for a tour and orientation to all we try to accomplish.
