Yes, I saw ‘Scramble’ …it was reported 4 hours earlier and several miles away from the time and location you posted.

Also, I very much doubt the FS is going to be discussing their staffing levels on the radio. I would imagine someone on FB either mis-heard something…or is interpreting things without context.

Again, FB is very poor source of accurate fire information. It is not worth re-posting.

As far as the FB post, I have to start somewhere and I do take them with a grain of salt. I find I can't just sit and wait until it comes on Wildcad. I have to know possibilites, especially up here. I use my eyes to look for smokes and starts, but I can't see that far upriver. After 2014-2021 years of fire and 3 evacs. I am on high alert during thunderstorms. And also dispersed campsites up here. The beginning of the season I smelled smoke up Little Bridge Cr. and I called the FS LEO and they checked it out and sure enough it was a small campfire, unattended with no none around, that had started to spread.
I don't rely solely on FB, but it's a start. Once a fire is going "good" Caltopo, Inciweb is my next stop. I do check on Wildcad too.

That's not the case here. It is on WIldCad, it is not a structure fire and multiple people in the neighborhood have posted pics both last evening and again this morning. FS is aware of the report but is also shorthanded so won't be out there until later this morning.

If there were legitimate FS radio traffic, then there would have been an entry on wildcad….even it was listed as ‘false alarm’ or ‘non-statistical’.
There are no wildcad entries for the Lost River area.

There might have been a structure fire - that was no threat to wildland fuels - and FD 6 responded.

Likely someone listening to a scanner mis-heard something and posted it. Thats why FB is not a good source of info.

Yeah, the FB posts are only using what they get from their scanners. When the Forest Service posts about a fire, I know it is the real deal. But of course they can't post for every possible fire and I sure don't expect that from them.
Some people really do know where these little fire starts are. Some do mistake the water dogs for fire. They warn people about that.
And people get jittery and seem to panic regarding fire. Well, I guess with good reason from past experiences.

This came from scanner then personal responses, we'll see what they find this morning. Several lightning strikes were noted on apps in that same area which are now on WildCad. 6:15 daybreak pictures show smoke column where it was last night.

None of the dispatch centers - that provide resources to fires - show any such ‘fire’ (whether a true fire, smoke check or non-statistical fire) anywhere close to Lost River in the last 2+ hrs.

I’d be careful about re-posting FB crap. Like Watch Duty and most other on-line sources….it is - at best - maybe accurate about 50% of the time.

FS aware but not sending in a crew until Wed. They are reporting their crews are short staffed now.
