Bicycled from Winthrop barn to Lewis Butte today to remove a no prop 1 business card from the top sign pole. It was gone already and the thumb tack replaced.

As I rode back to town and looking at bikes in the outside rack, I noticed that Winthrop cycle still has their vote yes sign displayed, still in the presumed HWY 20 easement. 3 more days and gone, hopefully for good.

Except the one in the Twisp community center which I took down just now.

The visitor Center didn't want political posters on the main board so it was placed on the board in that narrow hallway that the stairs create. Hard to see there.

This whole thing was a remarkable exercise in how one could effectively use online tools (e.g. this bulletin board) to organize and engage in local politics. Almost a decent case study for some political science grad student.

I'm saving my sign in case it's needed again.Judging from the FOP concession FB posts, I imagine the FOP still thinks they are right and knows wants best for our community. I imagine they think it was the vocal opponents who were intimidating voters with fear and not the fear they used that children will drown and that there will be no safe place to swim if prop1 fails .

But keep in mind that even if there were no public pool in our community tomorrow, there are plenty of pools within driving easy distance in our county or even the Lake Chelan area.

Its the parents responsibility to make sure that their children know how to swim and are properly supervised.

Quote from sociologist Dr. Sherman's book dividing Paradise a study on done in the Methow Valley.

"Paradise Valley faces new challenges, and the types of inequality described in this book are escalating."

But for now, I can take a deep breath and know that we presented facts to the best of our ability while we learned the nuances of this issue.

I take comfort in the fact that an overwhelming majority of Voters in our community voted for equality and inclusion and did not vote to place a tax burden on those who can't afford it.

Peter Larsen emailed me as he had problems posting here...
He is taking down all his signs and flyers that he put out.

Jingles, I have some rods I will drop off today.

I am keeping one sign for my garage wall as a souvenir...

When you take down your signs and if you had the metal rods that went into the sign, if you do not want to keep them let me know and I'll be glad to take them as I need about a dz of those size rods.
I'll be glad to come get them or meet you someplace convient for you
Thanks
Jingles

I kind of like the sign with a black smiley face painted on it just north of Twisp on the river side of the road.

Yep, I took mine down today. Someone came and took the Jennifer sign I had up and I am grateful. Probably someone from her team.

Please model good, courteous (and lawful) behavior by promptly removing campaign signs. Free speech issues aside, the signs are a blight.

My big sign on Twin Lakes Road came down at daybreak today.

Show some humility. The point has been made.

I removed ones I put up today. Since all signs are on private property, I expect the sign placer to remove their own signs... :D
