the one country commissioner on the proposal for the Metropolitan Park District which will impose a new property tax on everyone in our school district represents everyone in our district.

That includes 70% of us who live outside the towns of Twisp and Winthrop. That commissioner, currently Andy Hover, also represents the 30% of the people who live in the towns of Twisp and Winthrop. So really people living outside of the towns will not have a representative on the the MPD board.

The FOP is calling for new leadership on their poster. Chris Branch (no party) and Andy Hover (Republican) will likely not be reelected once the rest of the county is informed that they gave their support to raising taxes on the 20% of people living in our school district who earn less than $25,000 per year.

So basically those Commissioners are supporting rural gentrification (taxing people out of their homes). I don't believe that will play well in this County. They will be replaced by other Republicans because in this county everyone votes for the OCC.

Vote no on pool prop, no new Metropolitan taxing district, no regressive taxes. Yes to a sensible pool plan. Send the FOP back to the drawing board and keep outside special interest money out of our Valley.

Here is the pool plan as submitted to the Okanogan County commissioners obtained by a public documents request.

And who, specifically in the Towns and county would be making the appointments? The Mayors, or the town councils? All 3 county commissioners would make an appointment?
The next mayor of Twisp is Hans Smith, married to Sarah Schrock, who was on the Board of FOP. Has taken herself off, but will still be working in the background. Conflict of interest.
Of course, we have to see to it that this Prop will not pass. It must be known that there would be only one to represent property owners. Letter to the editor coming, I can feel it.

So, the Board could all be council members and the county commissioner. No representation for property owners outside the towns except the county commissioner. I do not like that. Could be just 1 vote representing property owners that pay over 90% of the property taxes and potential levy. Bad deal!
thanks

And they are defiantly building the Mega MAC despite the FOOl's ( ha! seriously I typed FOP's and auto correct did the rest)current rhetoric.

This is most interesting. Gee the FOP never mentioned this structure before.

"7. Officers of MAD. Tenure of Officers. The Board members shall annually elect from among
themselves the following MAD officers: The Chair, the Vice Chair, and other officers as the Board
deems appropriate. The MACMPD Board may adopt by-laws providing for additional officers;governing the corporate offices and tenure of officers; the number of positions, powers and duties, and term of each corporate office; the manner of appointment, selection, or election of office holders and the appointing, selection, or electing MAPD; performance of duties of the office upon illness, death, incapacity, or absence of the corporate officer; the filling of vacancies; and any
qualification for the office and conditions upon exercising its powers. "
