All this so we can be accused of spreading wrong info.
Post from a friend on FB. The post is kind of buried but it's under the one with Twisp-Valley life and is one of the newest comments.
But here is what I copied and pasted. Well said. She did get a reply that all those other posts are still there. But they are buried.

"Say, ladies - I read your website and all the elaborate plans, costs, etc. soon after the newspaper encouraged folks to read it. I e-mailed and talked with Blue, Sarah, and Bo. I just looked back to double- check what I remembered seeing, but what's on your website now is entirely different. Where are all of the consultant's plans, cost estimations, etc. now? Why the change? People who quote parts of the old website and those plans are now, even those who could be voting for it, being accused of spreading misinformation! Let's be fair, now."

Opponents to prop 1 are now being accused of spreading misinformation on the FOP facebook page. But the facts say otherwise.

Here is their latest facebook post. Note they say that the Mac is "scalable to the needs of our community".
yea scaled to the 20 million dollar pool as originally proposed.

A similar plan for a Metropolitan Park District was Defeated here, 78% to 22% in 2014.

Also note that I voted for the new firehall and was a vocal proponent of that plan. Does anyone know what the final vote for the firehall was?

Comparing an essential need like a fire hall to a luxury desire such as a Mega MAC makes no sense to me.




Here are the facts contained in the FOP proposal for the MAC as was presented to the Okanogan County Commissioners. These documents below were obtained by a public documents request with the county.

Proposition 1 is a vote whether or not to establish a Metropolitan Park District in order to require tax payer funds be used to build this plan below. The FOP even has the support of an architecture firm in Seattle headed by Ray Johnson. He has provided preliminary drawings of the MAC as shown below.

This is false.

One of the most defined and inflexible aspects of Prop 1 is spending.

The levy by law CAN NOT be more than $75 per $100,000 of assessed value. No more. That is maximum. The proposition language LIMITS the funds to an aquatic facility, so that scope creep can’t happen. In a year, the increase could only be 1%.

If you want a pool in the Methow, please vote YES."

Hmmmm. When a politician playing the victim promoting half truths tries to put their hand in your pocket to take your money what do you do?

The crazy thing is the FOP says,

"The purpose of Proposition 1 is not to build a $20 million pool."

The prop 1 ballot language literally states that the purpose of the Metropolitan Park District that they desire to create with Proposition 1 is to build a $20+ million pool, ie The MAC.

From the ballot;
"...Methow Aquatics District, to provide ongoing funding to develop, construct, operate, and maintain the Methow Aquatics Center and related existing and future facilities."

Like this false statement:

If that's what the FOP really wanted they would have chosen the MPD governing structure that allows voters to actually elect the MPD board commissioners. Lets not forget the governance language that we are voting for calls for 5 appointed MPD board officials.

Here is what we are voting on.

"A petition of the voters has been submitted concerning formation of a metropolitan park district. If approved, this proposition would create a district under chapter 35.61 RCW, to be known as the Methow Aquatics District, to provide ongoing funding to develop, construct, operate, and maintain the Methow Aquatics Center and related existing and future facilities. The District would have the powers provided under chapter 35.61 RCW, excluding eminent domain, but including, among others, to levy regular property taxes up to 75 cents per $1,000 assessed value, and its boundaries would be coterminous with the boundaries of Methow Valley School District 350. The District would be governed by a five member board appointed by the Okanogan County Commission and the Twisp and Winthrop Town Councils as provided by interlocal agreement approved by the three jurisdictions."

I was thinking that very thing about how stupid do they think we are? Not only them but the Town of Twisp seems to think so too.

Ray, you might see that I copied and pasted the latest, Blank Check post on Methownet. I am still so surprised the main post has not been taken down. The last post by Car for Sale might do it. Although it is not mean or libelous.

. After pushing for a year round Big MAC Mega indoor 2 pool/hot tub, which they claim people in the community overwhelmingly support they are now saying its a vote for a simple pool, now that they don't have overwhelming support from the community.

And to call appointed MPD board commissioners, "appointed electors" how stupid do they think we are?
