I think a situation where the few at the very top are participating in grifts and corruption on a truly remarkable scale when most normal people are hurting quite a bit (as the economic displacements from whatever the tariffs are this week begin to bite) is not a good or stable one.
Historically that is a sure-fire formula for a revolution.

That won't go anywhere but it is a nice gesture.
My view is that lack of action by the legislative branch in the case of clearly criminal behavior in the executive branch is going to lead to the republic breaking up. Well at least a temporary de facto breakup.
I think a lot of Gov. Newsom's recent statements make sense in that context. And more than a few elected officials have asked why citizens in their state are even paying taxes if funds allocated for their state are being unlawfully impounded.
