Re: NOAA employees asked to come back
I leave it to your imagination how terminated employees are going to react to these requests. Especially when they were let go on such chaotic terms and when they were often terminated for claimed "poor performance" when their performance was clearly not poor. I'd be surprised if a majority of them don't tell the government to *$@k right off.

Re: NOAA employees asked to come back
.
Whether it is;
- weather forecasting,
- agriculture loans,
- forest policy,
- GDP growth,
- recreation on public lands,
- wildfire,
- small business assistance,
- inflation,
- foreign aid,
- high interest rates,
- the ‘Border Crisis’,
- housing issues,
- immigration,
- whistleblowers,
- unemployment,
- criminal prosecutions,
- etc etc etc etc …..
THESE WORDS WILL ALWAYS RING TRUE:
“…..creating a problem, selling us a solution, and then take credit for "fixing it" even if the problem persists or didn't exist in the first place…..!”

NOAA employees asked to come back
From Altadena Weather:
'Today, an unknown but significant percentage of probationary meteorologists who were fired last week at the National Weather Service were cold emailed and invited back to work. The email claimed they were "terminated by accident." Many appear to be cheering this reversal as the right decision by DOGE, and some are even applauding DOGE for having the guts to back-peddle like this.
I am not so naive.
This was the plan all along. Fascism operates through deceit and psychological warfare. It dismantles systems with a deliberate mix of agonizing slowness and sudden force. There is a reason they aren't just shutting down NOAA this afternoon altogether. The plan is to manufacture crises, then claim credit for fixing them. Elon Musk and his rag-tag gang of 20-something year old misfits are intentionally sowing chaos and confusion in the world of weather. They are flooding the field with so much change, professionals begin turning on each other and accusing each other of not fully grasping what is going on or misinterpreting different situations. It is a classic example of divide and conquer.
Take, for instance, the past few days:
A shortage of staffing has resulted in the termination of two weather balloon launch sites in the northeast United States, one in New York and one in Maine. We need weather balloons to feed data into forecast models. Without these 91 (now 89) balloons, we can't forecast weather systems in the U.S. nearly as well. While station closures have occasionally occurred in recent years due to supply chain issues, that’s not what happened here. This was a deliberate move by DOGE, and it is the first step in a long con designed to degrade the accuracy of U.S. weather forecasting.
Why would DOGE want to degrade U.S. weather forecasting? Well, to create a problem they can "fix," of course! The goal here is to make the decrease in accuracy just barely noticeable by the American people, and then use it as a reason to shove their foot in the door even further. They are going to start with severe weather outbreaks later this spring and complain about how badly they were forecasted, even if these particular forecasts were no better or worse than average. Come summer and our annual hurricane landfalls, this complaining will turn into political campaigning. "We should have forecasted this hurricane that struck so-and-so in summer 2025 better. It must be DEI in the NWS!! Time for more layoffs!" Once again, they will be creating a problem, selling us a solution, and then will take credit for "fixing it" even if the problem persists or didn't exist in the first place!
Another trick up their sleeve is an unsubstantiated campaign by climate deniers to trick people into thinking NOAA is faking weather station data throughout the United States, arbitrarily warming recent years and cooling years in decades past to push a climate narrative. Although we've seen nothing of the sort from DOGE yet, I predict it won't be long before weather station data is wiped by DOGE, passing the action off as simply cleaning up false data. It'll get an angry backlash by meteorologists all around the country, they will restore some (not all) data, and then once the waters settle, delete even more.
All three tricks— the firings, the weather accuracy tampering, and the weather data deletion, are all tools the Trump Administration plans to use to dismantle NOAA as we know it.
Again... it is intentionally sluggish yet fast at the same time. They pre-plan back peddling to make it sound like they are playing the same game as you. "Oh,, oh, we "accidently" fired hundreds of meteorologists all at once! Here, we'll just wait a full week before we randomly tell half of them they can come back!"
This isn’t mismanagement. This is the method.
